Coraline walked through the frozen grounds alone. She loved the way the scene looked - all cold and grey - bitter. Her heeled boots clicked on the stone path through the garden; her brilliant orange hair flirting with ever gust of wind that blew. She burrowed her hands further into her coat pockets, but wasn't about to go back inside.
There were people inside - enemies and friends alike - that would want to pester or talk to her just because they had nothing better to do.
Well, Coraline had something better to do.
Stepping into the courtyard she instatly saw the path leading from the school ... Then she saw the beautiful fountain. The hard, cold marble towered above all else in what she believed was a fallen angel. Of course, there was a better possiblility that it was a vampire, but Coraline had this habit of being different and didn't exactly care what the hell it was supposed to be.
Sitting down on the edge of the fountains dish, she pulled out her sketch book and ink pen without moving a muscle. She smiled to herself when the book opened to the last page she'd used and the pen opened itself. "That'll never get old." she said to herself, only vaugely aware that another had entered the courtyard.

Viktor needed to meditate. It was how he got in touch with his inner-self, his owl inside. A serene smile flitted across Viktor's face as he thought happily of the first time he turned into an owl. He had just wanted to get as far away as he possibly could from those bullies. It had been nine years ago. Wow. Viktor shook his head, still smiling as he walked to his usual meditation spot. The fountain in the courtyard. He always, always went there when he needed to meditate. He was under the impression that everyone knew that the fountain was his spot. Sure, there were thousands of kids in this school building but still, he felt that everyone should know that the fountain was his spot. Often, he perched on the top of the fountain in his owl form but lately, he took to meditating... Right where someone else was sitting. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on a sec. Someone else was sitting in his meditation spot? Hell no. He scowled and steelered himself before faltering. Should he cause a scene? Maybe she was new and didn't know about his spot. St. Vec's was constantly getting new kids. So... Well, he would just politely walk up to her and tell her that she was in his spot.
She didn't seem aware that he was there, or at least that's how Vik felt. She didn't look up, didn't give him a nod, no form of acknowledgement. He was kind of offended. Taking a breath, Viktor closed his eyes and let himself transform. As an owl, he flew over so he was above he girl and lowered himself to the ground in front of her, changing back to his normal form. He didn't smile politely or show any form of common courtesy. Instead, Vik spoke, his tone icy.
"Excuse me," he said, "but I believe you're in my spot." Words: 327~Outfit

Coraline looked up at the bird and for a second wanted to draw it - until it changed into a person. Damn those blasted shifters, she thought angrily. Tossing her hair over her shoulder she raised an eyebrow and said in a daring tone, "And what make you think that this is your spot?"
She closed her sketch book without her power and dropped her pen randomly back inside her bag. It was clear she wasn't going to get to finish drawing with him around. Oddly, however, she was fine with that. Fighting was just as amusing in her opinion.
"You know something else, owl, I don't care to move. I think you were rude in saying that and now, to piss you off, I'm staying right here. Try to move me. I dare you." Coraline narrowed her eyes and waiting, knowing full well how many buttons she was pushing.

To say that Viktor's feathers were ruffled would be an understatement. Who the hell did this girl think she was? Women... Sighing, Viktor stared at the girl for a long, painful second.
"I always sit there when I need to meditate," Viktor said quietly. "Teacher always says that Shifters need to meditate in a spot that they are familiar with in order to get in touch with their inner-animal. So..." Viktor looked at the girl, a sneer delighting across his face at what she said next. "My name isn't owl, woman," he snapped bitterly. "And women should learn to hold their tongues. In the olden days, you would have gotten punished for speaking out like so." Viktor was aware of how chauvinistic he was. He always had been, but rarely did he flaunt it -especially in front of a woman. She was obviously powerful, or else she wouldn't be in this school. But what were her powers? Now, that was the question. "Look," Viktor said, "could you just move?"
Viktor hated people. He truly did. He always got picked on and taunted. Of course, he knew that his own attitude didn't help with how other people treated him and probably only served to add fuel to the metaphorical fire. He curled his hands into fists and took a deep, calming breath. He vaguely recalled the last time he shifted in anger. It had taken hours to catch his owl form and even longer to get him into his human state. He would be calm if the girl just moved! Or at least scooted over so they could share the damn spot. "Oh, a goody two shoes. Always follow what the teacher says?" Coraline laughed, but her mood soured when he called her 'woman'. Standing up, she dropped her bag at the fountain base and grabbed the front of his shirt, not caring that he was older than she was. He was a bloody owl - what was the worst he could do when she could push him away with her mind? "My name is Coraline you hypocritical moron. Don't you ever speak to me like that again, if you know what's good for you. I don't give a damn what happened to girls like me way back when, understand? So shove those ideas up your ass and take your effing spot." she gave him a shove, maybe using just a brush of her power and grabbed her bag, throwing it over her shoulder. "It's not worth it at this time in the morning."
Coraline could've stormed out of the courtyard, could've thrown the whole force of her power at him and then some, could've shouted and fought with him more - but didn't. Why didn't she? Usually she loved to fight with others. But this ... Owl guy, suddenly wasn't worth her time? Not like her at all.
She moved to one of the benches across from him and sat down again, getting out her sketch pad and pen without moving a muscle and stared at him. Drawing always helped her figure things out, and she was determined to figure out why the hell she couldn't fight with him.

Why did he feel guilty? He wasn't the one that stole another student's spot! He merely needed to meditate. So why... Did he feel bad for making the (albeit annoying) girl move? Stupid emotions. Viktor really had no use for them. Sighing, he set his things down and sat cross-legged on the seat the girl had vacated. He put his palms flat on his knees and breathed slowly, trying to clear his mind. Yeah, it wasn't working. The guilt kept attacking his conscience, telling him to suck it up and apologize and offer the girl something. The snort that escaped him broke what little concentration Viktor had managed to gain but seriously.
He was Viktor Vaine Royce. What did he have to offer anyone? He was a chauvinist, a bastard, cruel, and recluse. But he... Well, not to brag but, Vik had a good sum of money waiting for him. He inherited it at age 18 and hadn't touched it except to buy the bare essentials -school supplies and clothing. The school provided for his other health issues. Viktor sighed and ran his hand through his hair, casting a glance at the girl. Should he...? Well, at least he should apologize. Vik hefted himself to his feet and made sure everything about his posture screamed that he was just trying to be nice. Trying being the key word.
Slowly, he walked over to the girl and cleared his throat. "I apologize," he said to her, his tone very sincere. "I had no right to do that to you and by way of apology, I wish to take you to the bakery or the diner, your choice." Viktor hoped it worked. He wasn't very social so he didn't really know what social norms were for apologizing to people.

Coraline directed her eyes up to look at the shifter. She knew she looked slightly crazed when she did that, but oh well. Then leaning back against the bench, she tipped her head to the side and crossed her arms over her sketch book.
"You kick me out of a spot I was in first, piss me off, don't even bother to tell me your name so I can yell at you properly ... And your way of apologizing is asking me on a date? Sure that most likely wasn't your intention, but that's what it sounded like. When a guy offers to take a girl somewhere, that's usually what they want - a date." but Coraline, despite herself, wanted to go.
"I'm horrible at apologizing, just so you know why I'm not. I don't even bother trying anymore." She tucked her stuff in her bag yet again and stood up. "First tell me your name, then you can take me to the bakery. I don't like any place where I have to sit and wait for food to be brought to me. I get bored way to easily. Actually got banned from a diner in the next town just last year cause of it."
Coraline laughed at herself and began walking. "You are coming right? Or are you too scared?"
