It was in Byron's personal job description to torment the Headmaster. That was what he did and yet he still got paid. It amazed Byron to no end how the Headmaster dealt with Byron's... Idiocy. In any personality, Lord Byron Proulx III would taunt his employer. They didn't get along but Byron was one of the best and that, at least, had been accepted between them. Today, Byron was keeping the Headmaster as isolated as mortally possible. Byron was lingering outside Justin's office, telling whomever wanted to see him that 'the Headmaster has important tasks today that cannot be interrupted.'
After being under the impression that everyone knew that the headmaster had 'stuff to do', Byron had grown lax in his self appointed task. Of course, no one had come around for the past three hours so he had to assume that the word had spread from one of the kids that came by. Byron closed his eyes and leaned against the wall, keeping his ears sharp for footfalls of anyone from any direction. Byron didn't claim to know all of the students in the school. Hell, he didn't claim to know half of them. However, he knew all the staff and could tell when a student was coming or someone on the staff was. That was why Byron's eyes snapped open at the sound of foot steps. Someone was coming and they weren't supposed to. When the person cam into Byron's line of sight, the vampire spoke.
"Yo," he said, sliding into one of his alternate personalities. "Headmater Westley isn't seeing anyone today. Didn't you know that?" Words:279

Scorpia stuck to the shadows, regardless of the fact that she was capable to walk in sunlight. She hated the sun, end of discussion. However, she had more important things to deal with besides such trivial things. She was looking for her rat - Elye.
She moved past students who took no notice of her. Of course, precious Elye had told her why that was. They saw vampires every day. Foolish of them really, to pass without so much as a glance. Scorpia could kill them all right now.
A group of girls walked past, talking of things that didn't mean anything to her. She rolled her eyes and swept up another flight of stairs. That was when she saw another person, an equal of hers.
A vampire.
He was handsome, almost enough to make Scorpia flirt with him. However, now was not the time -yet. Giving a songlike laugh she said, "No, don't think I cared to know either. I have better things to do with my time. Now help me. I'm looking for a rat by the name of Elye. He's a ... Magic? Studies teacher at this school. I think. Don't care actually, but I need him. Care to lend a hand?"

Byron arched a brow, looking at the woman. She looked too old to be a student and she gave off power in waves which could only mean one thing: vampire. She was nice looking but Byron had never been attracted to anyone before. With a sigh, he answered the woman.
"Professor Wayland teaches Psychic Studies." Byron's tone was curt. He didn't much like women on the best of days and she, the one before him, seemed to blatantly... Disregard his coven. Yes, his coven. The staff at St. Vecs was his coven, including Elye Wayland. Byron glared at the woman coldly.
"I do not see any reason I should be helping you. You haven't given me any reason to offer my assistance to you, ma'am." The 'ma'am' was a sign of Byron's subtle personality shift. And if he could blush, he would have. Instead, he stared at the woman shyly. "But you're a woman in need and I have no where to be..." He trailed off and looked to the side before sighing. "Alright. I'll help. We're looking for Professor Wayland... He should be..." Byron looked up. "That way." 198

Scorpia raised her eyebrows in a mocking sort of way. She didn't need to read his mind to know he didn't like her all too much, but she was fine with that. It was when he said he would help that Scorpia smiled at him, nothing evil in her expression. "You are too kind. Elye has been neglecting to fulfill his promises to me and I need to have a word with him. I simply can't stand traitors."
She followed the other, but soon found herself craving more than silence. "Would you be kind enough to tell me of yourself? It is so rare I ask such things, but I sense a great strength about you." she was being bold, she knew, but she couldn't help it. "To avoid being overly rude, my name is ... well most call me Scorpia, but my human name was Lucy." and like that both her identies had been revealed to him. Oh, she hoped he wouldn't expose her to anyone. She'd truly hate to see him dead.

Byron had began walking, shuffling his feet in an embarrassed sort of way. The female vampire didn't seem to notice the personality shift or if she did, she had yet to comment on it. Byron nodded to a couple of passing students and continued to lead the other vampire to where he remembered Elye's office being.
Blinking, Byron looked over his shoulder, a cocky grin painting his face. "Ms. Scorpia," he said cheerfully. "I'm Lord Byron Proulx III. People often associate me with the phrase 'How the valiant have fallen' as a play on my last name. I am the last in the line of the family proulx. We were once in the King of England's inner courts but those days have long since left my family's line." Byron's cocky grin was still there. It was rare for him to get to talk about himself. Students didn't often ask him about his past or how he became a vampire which saddened him because, in his cocky personality, Byron liked to brag. He ran a hand through his hair and led Scorpia around a corner. Elye's office was on the fourth floor and they were still on the first. Where were the damn stairs in this castle? "So, you know Elye," Byron said conversationally. "How do you know him, if I may be so bold as to ask." Words: 235

Scorpia smiled without bothering to conceal her fangs. Surprisingly, she felt no need to be hostile towards him. Best keep a watchful eye at very least, she thought, pushing her hair back. "You've a rather interesting history. You may find this selfish, but I am glad you were blessed with immortality. It is rare I have the honor of meeting a vampire as ... capable as myself, in a sense."
"As for my rat Elye, I have known him long enough. One of my own decendants, though I am shamed to say my line has strayed from its once glorious path. We were powerful and held more control than the royal family, over first and third class scum alike. I too was powerful, far more than my parents before me even. My son gained my power and married one similar and bore a child I very much approved of. But I was young in my immortality and could not visit often enough. I would miss generations at a time and next thing I knew, my glorious family was nothing." Scorpia let out a sigh.
"I found Elye one night and nearly killed him. Do you know the saying 'blood calls to blood'? It'll sound crazy, but that's how I found him. My son and his wife were great, with powers worth a million dollars. All that is left is Elye now. He does have his uses of course, just not as I would have expected. Sometimes I fear I am too harsh." Scorpia said the last sentence to herself, but knew he could hear.
Looking him in the eye, she asked on a different note, "How much further must we go?"

Byron merely tiled his head in acknowledgement to what she said about his immortality. She was incredibly selfish with that. Byron hated immortality. It was crazy and he had lived so long that it almost hurt.
"I see," Byron murmured, leading Scorpia up a stair case. "Well, I can definitely see the dilemma and the downside but now that you've obviously got control of your bloodlust, you should be able to fix your family up to par." He shrugged after speaking. "That's what I would do. But I'm the last line of my family so I don't have anything to worry about." Byron grinned wryly. "If you hate him so much, you probably should have killed him, Scorpia," he said. He peered around them and made a sound of thoughtfulness. "It's the next floor up," Byron answered her last question. "Though why you would want to leave my company is beyond me."
Byron paused for a full half second before continuing onwards. Oh yeah, he didn't call her miss. This woman seemed to bring out his personality changes more quickly than other people did. Byron couldn't help but wonder if that was a good or bad thing. His other selves had never reacted this strong to one person ('this strongly' meaning that all 12 of them wanted to meet her) but that was bad at the same time. Gah, it wasn't the time nor place to ponder such things. That was better served for his own quarters.
Lord Byron led Scorpia up another set of stairs and looked around him. "Well," he said, "we're on the fourth floor. His office should be here. I just don't know where." Words: 288

"Oh if he hadn't possessed the power he does believe you me, he'd be rotting six feet under as we speak." Scorpia said dryly. As they continued she contemplated his 'offer'. Though of course he hadn't really asked to stay with him, he had implied it. "You know, I could lie and say that the matters I must discuss with Elye are of too great importance to just shrug off. However, when all the time in the world is yours ..." Oh who had she become? She was never one to shrug off responsibility. Like her father before her, her work was everything. But this vampire - Lord Byron Proulx III - made her want to forget about all that.
She felt herself wanting to get to know him more than simply for work purposes. Scary, she thought.
"Perhaps we might search for it another time." he was a threat, he had to be. Maybe he was on to her somehow. Somehow he must know that I am planning to torture Elye into insanity. Scorpia did not have to hang out in a coven to know the importance they held to some vampires.
If only she could lead him from the spot or distract him somehow; she would return for Elye later, now that she knew which floor he stayed on.
"This castle is so beautiful. Perhaps you might show me more of it?"
